The Unexpected House Guest

A member told us of an unexpected adventure he had experienced earlier this month.  A neighbor of his had had a house guest.  Here is a summary of his story:

About 10:30 a.m. on Monday he heard a commotion and went to investigate.  He thought perhaps that something had fallen down due to the recent strong winds.  As he entered his screened in porch he noticed that he had a visitor.  This was no ordinary visitor!  Entering through the screen this visitor found itself trapped.

He tried to coax his visitor out of the screened porch, but was unsuccessful.  So he left the door open and called his neighbor.

Dan, his neighbor, came over armed with gloves and a fish net.  After a bit of work and determination this unexpected visitor was caught, uninjured, and taken outside.  Once free it looked warily around keeping a watchful eye on its rescuer and host.  Both men stood back observing the beautiful visitor and finally, after a few minutes, saw it fly away free.  Here is a close-up photo:

This is a beautiful photo of the unexpected house guest, an immature red-tailed hawk.

Both Dan and the home owner remain uninjured; same as the house guest.  The only damage was done to the screen.
